Airbus has selected Kuehne + Nagel as its Lead Logistics partner (Lead Logistics Provider) for all its logistic operations. Kuehne + Nagel thus becomes the exclusive supplier to Airbus for the operational management and control of all the logistic hubs situated in Germany, Spain, France and the United Kingdom. This 6 year contract decisively reinforces the collaboration between Kuehne + Nagel and Airbus, which started in 2003. It also represents the strategic entrance of Kuehne + Nagel into the aircraft logistics market in France and the United Kingdom.
The new Airbus logistic concept plans for the progressive consolidation, by 2010, of all its local distribution centres into six regional hubs. In this context, Kuehne + Nagel will be responsible for a Europe wide distribution centre network, situated in Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom. The operations managed by Kuehne + Nagel on behalf of Airbus will represent over 150,000 m² of warehouses.
“This partnership represents a real innovation, even a revolution, in integrated aircraft logistics”, emphasised Dirk Reich, Member of the Kuehne + Nagel International AG Management Committee, responsible for the Contract Logistics Division.
