Business Immo: What is the ProLogis strategy in France?
Gary Anderson: Currently, France represents the largest ProLogis market in Europe. This is the market in which we have developed the greater part of our turnkey operations. Since the start the market in the hexagon has been part of our preferred targets, and has supplanted the United Kingdom, which, even three years ago was our main European market.
BI: What position does France occupy in your European strategy?
Gary Anderson: ProLogis is putting the emphasis on expansion in Europe. In 2007, we had 1.4 billion € of current programmes, with a third in the United Kingdom, a third in Western Europe, with the larger part in France, and a third in Southern and Eastern Europe. Our activities in France – as everywhere else – are for the long term, and we will continue our exploration of the markets in Northern and Eastern Europe.
In 2008, 400,000 m² was delivered on the European market. Our objective is to continue our growth and achieve, three years from now, an annual rate of 800,000 m².
BI: And Europe as part of your global strategy?
Currently our European projects represent 46% of our worldwide operations, whereas ten years ago, all our activities were in the United States!
