The Board of the Marseilles Autonomous Port has approved the launch of a call for proposals for the allocation of 4 parcels in the Fos Distriport logistic zone. These 20 to 25 hectare parcels constitute the future extension of the zone. The call for proposals is open to the main logistic players, service providers, shippers and logistic property promoters. “For promoters applications, the PAM wants to encourage those already having the benefit of an international customer base through locations close to major seaports, says the Port, which is seeking to encourage the emergence of structured proposals from the main global operators wanting to position themselves in the Mediterranean and develop their activities their via the Marseille-Fos port. The call for proposals will be launched in the autumn and the winners will be known in mid 2009.
Eventually, once the extension of the logistic zone has been completed, Fos-Distriport will offer a capacity of one million m² of logistic warehouses over an extent of 100 hectares and will generate about 2,500 jobs.
